Guidance on COVID-19 Vaccine and Dermal Fillers

What a whirlwind of a year it has been! We are so grateful for the tireless efforts put towards the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, it seems like there is a light at the end of this tunnel. We encourage all those who are eligible to get the vaccine, but please be aware of potential side effects.

The Food and Drug Administration warns that the moderna vaccine may result in swelling and inflammation at the injection sites for those with facial fillers. It is important to note that this is a normal immune response to the vaccine and may be treated with steroids and antihistamines. The Aesthetic Society reports that this response only occurred in three patients nationwide, so the small number of reported cases should not stop you from getting the vaccine.
